Mantle Quest Japan Company Ltd. was founded in 2008 and since its foundation with a mission of operation and management of the deep-sea  drilling vessel “CHIKYU” owned by Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology(JAMSTEC), jointly sponsored by NYK Line and Global Ocean Development Inc., which are active in the seas of the world, and Japan Drilling Co., Ltd., which boasts offshore drilling technology which has been cultivated in the offshore oilfield for a half-century.

We have been pursuing exciting and challenging activities all the time based on the bountiful sea by the combination of science and engineering beyond areas and fields.

We safely and efficiently drilling in the Earth for various purposes. 
These include understanding the mechanisms of megathrust earthquakes, elucidating global environmental changes, and resource exploration. We have responded flexibly to such a wide range of initiatives, and have contributed to the ocean policy and energy policy of government agencies in Japan and related private companies in Japan and overseas.

From now on, we will not be satisfied with the current situation, will not fear change or challenges, and will stand from a multifaceted perspective. We are committed to the continuous improvement of corporate value, utilizing all of our knowledge and resources. With flexible thinking, we will pioneer the diversity of the missions undertaken by "CHIKYU" and fulfill our responsibilities as a contractor.
